Working methods:
The Firm has the resources to handle almost any legal task. Each
client of the Firm is served by one lawyer or a team of lawyers
depending upon the nature and volume of the work involved. The objective
of this organization is to provide continuity in the handling of
the client's affairs.
We arrange for attorneys with the appropriate experience and seniority
to be assigned to the client's business. This may not always involve
a partner. The Firm has the ability to second some of its lawyers
to clients on a regular basis.
Conflicts:
It may happen that we will find ourselves unable to act in a particular
matter because we are already involved on behalf of another client.
In this case, our first action will be to reveal the potential conflict
and recommend other lawyers.
Confidentiality:
We believe that confidentiality is one of the essential norms of
our profession. Our confidentiality duty is therefore very strictly
applied. Paralegals and other staff are contractually bound by a
rigorous confidentiality obligation.
Billing policies:
The Firm’s professional charges are determined in light of
the nature of the services required, the time needed for such services,
the complexity of the legal issues involved, and extraordinary requests
from clients. The Firm applies hourly billing rates, fixed fees,
annual retainers, or a combination of one or more of these billing
methods as agreed with the client. The fees charged are those which
are reasonable and satisfactory to the client.
Bills are submitted monthly, quarterly, or at the conclusion of
the particular matter and include a description of the services
covered by the fees. Disbursements are normally billed together
with fees and are itemized in detail if the client so wishes. Disbursements
charges are billed at cost and do not involve any profit element.
Our auditors review all statements of disbursements before our invoice
is issued to the client.
Pro Bono work:
The Firm has a long tradition of pro bono work for public interest,
non-profit organizations, and individuals.
Credentials:
If you have been recommended to contact us but nevertheless have
little or no knowledge of our capabilities, we will be pleased to
refer you to existing clients and professional contacts for an independent
appraisal of the services we provide. In the absence of an attorney
known to you, enquiries should be addressed to the Managing Partner
named on the list of the Firm's members.
Complaints:
We take complaints made against us very seriously It is our policy to investigate complaints promptly and thoroughly.
